ROSEMONT, Ill. — With winter on the horizon, commercial property owners are bracing for higher heating bills.
One strategy to lower the cost of heating is installing Emerson’s EasyHeat XD cable kits under the concrete slabs of garages, storage facilities, aircraft hangers, warehouses, and other properties, creating a thermal mass that radiates heat throughout the building, according to a press release from Emerson.
Using fixed resistance, EasyHeat XD cables safely convert electricity into heat. The ground underneath where the cables are installed becomes an efficient, large mass of stored thermal energy that is only released when the area above it becomes cool. Otherwise the radiant heat remains where it is so there is no wasted energy, the press release said. The cables can save money by operating only during a utility’s off-peak hours, when discounted electricity is available, and can be automatically turning off during peak hours.
EasyHeat XD cable kits are heavy-duty heating cables engineered to be installed in soil or sand under a concrete-slab building foundation. The dual-element, fixed-resistance cables are supplied with 20-foot cold leads as standard and made to order in 208 vac or 240 vac.
EasyHeat XD cable kits can be zone-controlled. Each heating zone requires two thermostats: an adjustable sensing thermostat to control floor temperature at an appropriate setting, and a pre-set, high-limit thermostat to ensure the cable temperature does not exceed design requirements.
EasyHeat XD cable kits are UL Listed and backed by a one-year limited warranty.
