NORTH PRARIE, Wisconsin —
Zero Zone has taken a significant step to address the shortage of skilled workers in the industrial and commercial refrigeration industry by partnering with Apprentice Now. Together, they have developed a 10-week Field Service Technician training program, culminating in the graduation of 14 candidates on December 3, 2024.
As a large portion of the American workforce approaches retirement and new technologies require lengthier training times, the need for proactive recruitment strategies becomes increasingly critical. The collaboration between Zero Zone and Apprentice Now aimed to meet this need by offering a training program that teaches candidates the skills to service industrial and commercial refrigeration systems, at no cost to the participants. The program alternates between in-class instruction and hands-on training.
“For any company seeking skilled workers, Apprentice Now is an excellent partner,” stated Christi Wisniewski, the Zero Zone Director of Human Resources. “They handle everything from recruiting and training to the hiring process. This approach is likely the future of apprenticeships.”
Zero Zone entered this partnership without the expectation that the candidates take positions within the company but with the opportunity to apply for roles at Zero Zone or other companies within the industry. Recognizing the high demand for technicians in the industry, this partnership is seen as a proactive step towards addressing industry needs.
