Introducing the Koolfog Fog Puck

Koolfog fogging technologies are interactive, cost-effective, and visually stunning. Our fog effects create the “wow factor” and additional detail to complete the ultimate impression for outdoor atmospheres. We manufacture our high-pressure fog pumps and fog nozzles and conduct our research and development for design improvements so that we are intricately involved in all critical aspects of fog design. One of our most popular recent additions is the “Fog Puck.”

What is a “Fog Puck”?
This product is an accessory that allows for a cluster of nozzles to emit a robust fog effect. The puck fits nozzles into a relatively tight formation, spaced so the dispersion patterns do not interfere substantially with each other. The Fog Puck has integrated mounting points and multiple inlets to allow for the most robust fog effect possible with a flexible design for implementation. The Fog Puck’s name is derived from its likeness to a hockey puck.

How did the concept of the Koolfog fog puck come to be?
Our team is constantly innovating. With each new project, we push the limits of our fog technology, and with new design challenges, we came up with the idea of concentrating the fog nozzles into a simple custom accessory. I worked with our engineering and design team on the technical details required to execute the design while addressing some of the more practical considerations. Believe it or not, something as simple as a “puck” has many components including locating the various connection points as well as the grade of stainless steel used in the manufacturing process.

How did your collaboration with Crystal Fountain’s “niche housing” evolve?
We have many different clients and different applications for our Fog Puck. However, having partnered on many projects worldwide, we have a special relationship with Crystal Fountains. Koolfog worked in tandem with Crystal’s team to develop a “niche” housing for the Fog Puck that allows for in-ground walkover designs. We both worked on optimizing the internal connection details, serviceability and a grating design to ensure we were getting as much fog output as possible.

What design or build challenges did your team face in developing this product?
The Fog Puck was a natural extension of some of our past project requirements, so we were prepared for most challenges. However, as with many innovations, time is of the essence. Our teams worked together to create a manageable timeline and kept change requests to a minimum so they could be executed on time and within budget.

What is the significance and/or benefit of this product to Koolfog?
This product provides a very flexible design platform. For example, we recently used the Fog Pucks for a client who wanted a tight but robust fog plume to emit from a dragon’s mouth. Imagine a highly concentrated fog effect that creates a very real dragon’s breath. The client then adds lighting and additional theming to bring such creatures to life, to the thrill of their customers.
