WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Everkem Diversified Products, which makes sealants, adhesives, and specialty chemical compounds for construction and industrial applications, announced that prices of a number of its products are expected to increase because of the tariffs on imports.
While the majority of the company’s products are made in the U.S., some are imported and will be subject to tariffs, a statement emailed to Everkem customers said.
“We have worked diligently to find the most responsible solution for our customers. In an effort to maintain transparency while continuing to offer competitive pricing, we will not increase base product prices at this time,” the statement said, in part. “However, you will notice a new line item on your invoice labeled ‘Tariff Surcharge.’ This surcharge reflects the percentage of tariff applicable to the product, based on its country of origin, packaging, or material content.”
The company said it anticipated the changes and placed advanced orders before tariffs took effect. “Thanks to this foresight, we are able to offer pre-tariff pricing on many of our products while supplies last. Once this inventory is depleted, the ‘Tariff Surcharge’ will begin to apply accordingly,” the company’s statement said.
