Superior Boiler has secured a new contract to provide key equipment for a Gulf Coast utility project, reinforcing what the Kansas-based manufacturer calls its “strong momentum” in the energy sector.
The company will deliver a Shawnee Ds-style watertube boiler and a spray-type deaerator for the project, equipment designed to boost steam generation and water treatment at the utility. The order comes from a returning customer, who previously purchased similar equipment in 2019—a sign, Superior Boiler says, of “continued confidence” in its engineering and manufacturing.
Doug Wright, the company’s president and CEO, described the new contract as a testament to Superior Boiler’s “manufacturing performance and engineering excellence.” He also noted the Gulf Coast’s significance for energy infrastructure, adding that the company’s equipment plays “an essential role in supporting those operations with long-term reliability and value.”
The Shawnee Ds-style boiler, a patented design, is notable for its compact footprint and operational efficiency. The unit for the new project is built for a 65,000-pound-per-hour capacity and a 550-psig design pressure. Paired with a customized deaerator, the package is tailored to the utility’s specific needs.
Superior Boiler, which employs more than 200 people in Hutchinson, Kansas, has shipped over 21,000 boilers since its founding in 1917. The company did not disclose the value of the latest contract or the identity of the utility involved, but characterized the deal as part of a “robust trend of successful engagements” with leading engineering, procurement, and construction firms in the industry.
