A New Heat Pump for Heating, Cooling, and Hot Water

A New Heat Pump for Heating, Cooling, and Hot Water

LAS VEGAS — Carrier has launch of its first domestic hot water air-to-water (DHW A2W) heat pump at the International Builders’ Show.

The new product offers an advanced, sustainable solution for homeowners and builders seeking energy-efficient alternatives for home heating, cooling, and domestic hot water, a press release from Carrier said.

Carrier’s DHW A2W heat pump system uses refrigerant technology and a compact outdoor unit to deliver not only a complete heating and cooling solution, but also a solution for home hot water needs, the press release said. The DWH A2W heat pump integrates domestic hot water solutions with radiant floor heating, forced-air systems, chilled panels, and even driveway warming systems, offering superior performance in a range of applications, the press release said.

The DWH A2W heat pump operates with a coefficient of performance (COP) of up to 4.9, resulting in reduced carbon emissions and lower utility bills for homeowners compared to traditional heating methods while helping builders meet energy codes and environmental regulations. In 2019, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized air-to-water heat pumps with the Energy Star Emerging Technology Award, highlighting their energy efficiency and environmental benefits.

“At Carrier, we are committed to providing innovative solutions that prioritize sustainability without compromising on performance or comfort,” said Braden Cook Sr., director of product management, training, and service at Carrier. “The DWH A2W heat pump is an important step forward in our product lineup, and we’re thrilled to offer this groundbreaking technology to our customers. This product brings future-ready, energy-efficient climate control and hot water to homes across the country.”

The system is kitted to include the heat pump, hot water tanks, an indoor control panel, and all the main fittings required for installation, all under a single part number. This comprehensive approach simplifies the selection process and eliminates the need for contractors to determine and size necessary fittings.

Additionally, the system offers multiple tank sizes to accommodate all air-to-water heat pump capacities.
