Artificial Intelligence Adoption Accelerates Across Skilled Trades, ServiceTitan Reports

LOS ANGELES — Artificial intelligence adoption is already delivering efficiency gains for contractors, according to a new industry report from ServiceTitan.

Released Dec. 16, 2025, ServiceTitan’s first annual “AI in the Skilled Trades” report surveyed more than 1,000 contractors across residential and commercial trades to assess how artificial intelligence is being used today and where adoption is accelerating.

The survey found that 46% of respondents are already using or experimenting with artificial intelligence, signaling that the technology has moved beyond early-stage exploration. Nearly three-quarters of contractors said artificial intelligence’s greatest value is improving efficiency and productivity, followed by better decision-making and reduced operational costs.

Contractors also expressed a strong preference for artificial intelligence tools embedded directly into the software they already use. According to the report, 59% of respondents rely on built-in artificial intelligence features, compared with 42% using general-purpose tools and 8% adopting custom-built systems. The findings suggest contractors value workflow-integrated solutions that minimize disruption and training demands.

While sentiment around artificial intelligence is largely positive, the report shows adoption challenges remain organizational rather than technical. Nearly half of respondents cited lack of training or skilled staff and integration challenges as the top barriers. Difficulty understanding how to use artificial intelligence tools and unclear return on investment were also common concerns. Employee resistance, however, was reported as relatively low.

Artificial intelligence use is spread across multiple business functions. ServiceTitan found the highest adoption in administrative tasks, followed by marketing and sales. Customer service, communication, and field operations also showed growing usage, reflecting a focus on automating repetitive, high-volume processes.

According to ServiceTitan, the findings indicate that contractors are turning to artificial intelligence to address immediate operational challenges while laying the groundwork for broader digital transformation across the skilled trades.

“We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to modernize an industry that is essential to everyday life, and ServiceTitan is building not just software, but the core operating system that will support our customers in winning their own AI race,” said Vahe Kuzoyan, president and co-founder of ServiceTitan. “We’re freeing contractors from administrative burdens so they can focus on craftsmanship, customer care, and solving the important problems their businesses face. The companies that thrive will be those that treat AI not as a threat, but as a force multiplier that elevates both their people and their performance.”
