Launching on Patriot Day, Delivering Comfort on Veterans Day
Today, Patriot Day (September 11), Samm’s Heating & Air Conditioning is honored to launch our Comfort for Our Veterans HVAC Giveaway. This initiative is about more than heating and cooling—it’s about honoring the service, sacrifice, and ongoing contributions of veterans in our community.
On Veterans Day, November 11, 2025, one deserving veteran will be surprised with the installation of a complete HVAC system at no cost, installed by our team as a tangible expression of gratitude.
By tying this initiative to two days of remembrance and service—Patriot Day and Veterans Day—we are proud to stand with our community in honoring sacrifice, resilience, and unity.

Why Veterans? Why Now?
North Texas is home to countless veterans who not only served this nation but continue to live out their values in everyday life. Some volunteer with nonprofits, mentor young people, organize food drives, or simply show up for neighbors in need.
These unsung acts of service inspire us. And they deserve recognition.
The Comfort for Our Veterans Giveaway is not about charity—it’s about honor. We want to celebrate veterans who are still making a difference, long after their military service ended.
This year also overlaps with Suicide Prevention Month, a reminder that many veterans face challenges we don’t always see. Recognizing their stories is one way to remind them—and all of us—that they are valued, needed, and never forgotten.

A Legacy of Patriotism at Samm’s
For over 20 years, Samm’s Heating & Air Conditioning has proudly served Plano and surrounding North Texas. From the beginning, our company has been guided by values of patriotism, service, and family.
The owners’ family has always had deep connections to military service and patriotic traditions, which shaped the culture of Samm’s from the start. Today, that legacy continues under new leadership—proudly women-operated since 2024—with the same commitment to honor, integrity, and community service.
The Comfort for Our Veterans Giveaway is one way we carry forward those values while meeting today’s needs.

Advocacy in Action
Our Director of Operations, Tanya Mac, has spent more than a decade as a mental health advocate for veterans, first responders, and their families. She brings her passion for wellness and resilience into every aspect of Samm’s work.
Tanya is a certified instructor for:
• Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) – training individuals to recognize and respond to mental health challenges.
• ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) – equipping community members to help prevent suicide with practical intervention skills.
• First Aid Arts – a creative, trauma-informed program using expressive arts to help people process difficult experiences.
As a member of the Suicide Prevention and Brain Health Rotary Club, Tanya also partners with organizations across North Texas to expand access to resources, training, and support.
For her, this HVAC giveaway is more than a company initiative—it’s a way to merge professional expertise with community care, delivering both practical comfort and emotional recognition.
⸻
How the Giveaway Works
Here’s how to nominate a veteran:
Write Their Story – In 50–200 words, share how the veteran continues to give back through advocacy, volunteering, mentoring, or community leadership.
Send It In – Email nominations to [email protected] by October 30, 2025.
Eligibility – Nominee must live within Samm’s Heating & Air Conditioning’s service area.
The selected veteran will be notified on Veterans Day (November 11, 2025), and our team will complete the HVAC system installation that very same day.
⸻
HVAC as More Than Equipment
It’s easy to think of HVAC systems as purely functional—they heat, they cool, they keep the air moving. But at Samm’s, we see them differently.
A reliable HVAC system means:
• Peace of mind in the middle of a Texas summer.
• Safety and warmth on a cold night.
• Stability for families who have sacrificed so much.
When we install a system for a veteran on Veterans Day, we’re not just giving equipment. We’re delivering comfort, recognition, and gratitude.
⸻
Suicide Prevention Month and Veterans’ Mental Health
September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time to remember that mental health is as vital as physical health. Veterans are at increased risk for depression, PTSD, and suicidal thoughts, and families often carry the weight of invisible struggles.
At Samm’s, we believe in going beyond business and stepping into community responsibility. By launching this initiative during Suicide Prevention Month, we’re reinforcing the importance of connection, care, and hope.
North Texas has an incredible network of organizations dedicated to serving veterans and their families, including:
• Cohen Veterans Network – providing accessible mental health services for veterans and military families.
• Valor Mission Project – mentoring, advocacy, and community support for veterans.
• Metrocare Services – behavioral health and specialized veteran programs.
• Equest – equine-assisted therapy for veterans and their families.
• Veterans Center of North Texas – connecting veterans with resources, services, and peer support.
• Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) – building resilience through peer-to-peer connection.
• Suicide Prevention and Brain Health Rotary Club – dedicated to prevention and awareness; Tanya Mac is an active member.
These groups remind us that community is strongest when we stand together.
At Samm’s, we love to give back. If your organization is hosting a volunteer event, community action, or project that needs support, please reach out to us. We’re always eager to lend a hand.
⸻
Stories Worth Sharing
The nominations we’ve received in past community efforts have reminded us how veterans continue to make a difference every day:
• A retired Marine mentoring high school students.
• An Army veteran organizing food pantry deliveries.
• A Navy veteran volunteering at a local animal shelter.
• A veteran family opening their home to foster children.
These stories reflect resilience, compassion, and leadership—the same qualities that inspired this giveaway.

Looking Ahead
This is our first year running the Comfort for Our Veterans HVAC Giveaway, but it won’t be our last. We envision making this a Samm’s tradition—an annual reminder that our gratitude for veterans doesn’t fade, it grows.
⸻
Conclusion: Service, Comfort, Gratitude
On Patriot Day, we launch this initiative as a way to honor resilience and sacrifice. On Veterans Day, we will deliver comfort directly into the home of one local hero.
For us at Samm’s, this is more than an HVAC giveaway. It’s a promise: to continue serving our community with the same dedication that veterans have shown to us all.
