MINNEAPOLIS — Daikin Applied has acquired an exclusive license to Sorbent Ventilation Technology from enVerid Systems, giving the company sole rights to manufacture, sell, and distribute the technology in North America. According to Daikin Applied, the agreement expands its portfolio of energy-efficient indoor air quality solutions for commercial buildings.
Sorbent Ventilation Technology uses a proprietary media blend to remove volatile organic compounds, ozone, and carbon dioxide from indoor air. The module integrates with a range of commercial HVAC systems and can operate alongside strategies such as energy recovery and demand control ventilation. The technology is the only solution independently tested and validated to meet all contaminant requirements in ASHRAE Standard 62.1.
Daikin Applied first integrated the technology into select products in 2021. Company leaders said the new licensing agreement reinforces their commitment to helping customers meet indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and sustainability goals.
“With the addition of this patented technology to our portfolio, we’re eliminating the long-standing tradeoff between energy performance and air quality,” said Yu Nishiwaki, COO, Daikin Applied. “It’s an advancement that supports both decarbonization and occupant well-being, while making it easier for engineers and building owners to meet IAQ standards with confidence. We are excited to bring this technology to Daikin Applied.”
The company plans to reintroduce the offering to the North American market in the coming months as part of an expanded portfolio. During the transition, its service model for SVT will remain unchanged, and standalone applications will continue to be supported.
enVerid Systems CEO Christian Weeks said SVT has become a trusted solution for commercial, education, and government sectors seeking high-performance ventilation with lower energy loads. He noted that Daikin Applied’s market reach and product expertise position the technology for broader adoption.
The agreement aligns with Daikin Applied’s sustainability strategy, which focuses on electrification, decarbonization, and advanced ventilation practices. The company said that when combined with other air quality technologies, SVT gives building owners a more comprehensive approach to improving indoor environments.
