Georgia Boiler Manufacturer Graduates First Class of Trade Program Students

In a modest ceremony at its Rockmart, Georgia, facility, industrial boiler manufacturer Miura America celebrated the completion of its first Boiler Trade Program, launching six graduates into a field struggling with workforce shortages.

The program, which began in late 2024, provides specialized training for steam system maintenance and operation, focusing on practical skills needed across manufacturing, food processing, and healthcare facilities.

“We’re seeing a significant gap in qualified boiler technicians nationwide,” says Arne Irwin, VP of Maintenance Operations & Customer Experience at Miura. “This program represents one approach to addressing that challenge.”

Industry experts have long warned about the declining numbers of skilled trades workers in industrial settings. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects continued demand for qualified technicians in steam and boiler operations through the next decade, particularly as aging workers retire.

Miura’s program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training, preparing technicians for the specific challenges of modern steam systems. The company is currently accepting applications for its next cohort, though class sizes remain limited to ensure focused instruction.

The graduates will enter a field where their skills are in high demand, with positions available across various industrial sectors requiring steam operations for production and facility management.
