Less R-410A, Higher Equipment Prices



Prices of HVAC equipment keep rising as R-410A inventory decreases. And by exactly how much? According to David Gitlin, CEO of Carrier, said over the next few years, their new A2L equipment will be increasing by double digits. Gitlin also said that Carrier is managing the transition to R-454B effectively. Lennox CEO Alok Maskara estimated during a third-quarter earnings call, that for the full year in 2025, about 65% of the end-market demand will transition to low-GWP products. New A2L systems at Lennox will cost over 10% more than R-410A products, according to Maskara, who also noted that when it comes to repair versus replacement, the higher prices might complicate that decision-making process. Next year, Lennox will also be raising prices on its remaining R-410A units. Trane will similarly raise prices.
