Every two hours, the air in your home circulates through your HVAC system. While filters catch and remove a large percentage of dust and debris, they can’t work if they’re clogged and dirty. Here are a few simple tips to help you remember to change your air filters and keep your home’s air clean.
Set a reminder.
Depending on the type of air filters in your home, you will have to change them every month or every few months. So, whether you live off your smart phone, or you prefer the old-school pen and paper, set up a recurring reminder for yourself.
Upgrade your thermostat.
Programmable thermostats offer a number of comfort-enhancing, money-saving benefits including, automatic reminders and alerts to change your air filter.
Tie your check-ups with other important dates.
Lining up yearly HVAC checkups with memorable dates, like the first day of spring, can help you remember that it’s time for maintenance.
Write reminders on the filters.
On the cardboard edge of each filter, write down the date it needs to be changed. Everytime you pass by, it’ll remind you of this important task.
