MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. — Adam Van Demark, an instructor at Texas State Technical College in Rosenberg, Texas, has earned the title of of Certified Master HVACR Educator, or CMHE, from HVAC Excellence.
The HVAC Excellence certified subject matter educator credentialing exams determine whether an HVACR instructor has mastered the material in several subject areas in order to successfully teach those subjects. Passing any one of the nine exams offered would be quite an accomplishment, a press release from HVAC Excellence said.
However, to earn the title of Certified Master HVACR Educator, an instructor must pass seven specific exams with a score of 80% or higher. The exams are teaching methodologies — in principles and practices, electrical, air conditioning, light commercial air conditioning, light commercial refrigeration, electric heat, and one of the following: gas heating, oil heating, or heat pumps.
The exams create a nationally recognized benchmark that aids school administrators in selecting qualified professionals to lead their HVACR programs. The exams also provide HVACR instructors with a tool to determine where professional development may be needed.
