A Resource for Contractor Support

A Resource for Contractor Support

Installation problems and warranty repair visits can quickly eat up the profits you build into job bids. When things go south on a Daikin VRV installation, you lose money on the job and future work with the customer. Learn why contractors may run into trouble with Daikin VRV work, and how to get the help you need to successfully complete the job while protecting your profits and customer relationships.

Why Daikin VRV systems are challenging to install & repair

Daikin VRV systems are increasingly chosen by engineers for commercial installations because they provide benefits customers want, including customizable zoned comfort, heat + AC, quiet operation, and energy efficiency. However, the dynamic, multi-zone technology is far more complex than traditional split or rooftop AC systems:

  • VRV is a modular system with more equipment and piping than traditional systems.
  • VRV requires exact refrigerant charging based on job-specific piping measurements. Getting it wrong can cause compressor failure or system lockouts.
  • Skilled brazing techniques are required to properly pitch pipes and prevent moisture, air, or oxidation in the lines which can cause permanent damage.
  • The commissioning process takes time and experience to get right.
  • Diagnosing issues requires deep knowledge of Daikin’s proprietary software.

It can take years for HVAC technicians to learn the ins and outs of Daikin VRV systems and gain the competence needed to install and service them. If your team is just getting started with VRV, it’s likely that they will run into trouble with installation, configuration, and repairs. So what do you do when you need support?

Daikin VRV support options for contractors

Daikin provides a wealth of information in their Resource Center. But reading the manual or watching online tutorials is only going to get you so far with Daikin VRV systems. There’s simply too much to know, and too many possible issues that can vary with each specific installation and model. When you need help in a hurry, this is not the most efficient option.

The same is true for calling Daikin’s North America commercial technical support line, especially when you’re unable to get the system online. Without connectivity or the correct configuration, it’s going to be time consuming for remote support staff to uncover the cause(s) of the problem and guide you to a solution.

For HVAC contractors in the NYC metro area, there’s a better local resource that can show up and solve the problem fast. Arista Air Conditioning has decades of experience with VRV technology, and we’re now part of the Daikin organization.

Arista’s process for contractor support services

Pre-commissioning checklist

The process starts with a pre-commissioning checklist that streamlines the work by helping Arista understand what has happened and exactly what to expect when we arrive on site.

Diagnostics

Arista can usually arrange to get onsite within a few days for diagnosis, or arrange for us to visit within your planned installation schedule. If no parts are needed, we can begin the work immediately. We work directly with the contractor for scheduling, work orders, parts, and status reports.

Supporting your technicians

Once the pre-commissioning tasks are performed by the installing contractor, Arista will either assist or perform and document the startup and commissioning process. Your technicians are welcome (and encouraged) to be present and we are happy to share technical tips and information to help them learn for the next job.

You get a solution when you work with Arista. Plus, you preserve your profit, keep your positive customer relationship, and build your Daikin VRV knowledge for the future.
