Welcome to the Fall Issue of Today’s Boiler.
Writing this letter is a uniquely humbling moment for me. Having been part of the ABMA community for the past nine years, taking on the role of Interim President & CEO is an incredible honor. I care deeply about this organization and the people who make it up, and I am stepping into this position with a clear focus and a readiness to continue to work on your behalf.
Thank you for your valued confidence, your engagement, and your dedication to this incredible industry. I look forward to connecting with many of you in the months ahead.
As I look at where ABMA is today, I find myself thinking a lot about where we started.
In 1888, the boiler industry was in a vastly different place. Our founders came together during a critical time, realizing that to improve safety, establish reliable standards, and advance the trade, they could not operate entirely in silos. They recognized that even as competitors in the marketplace, they were stronger together. They formed the American Boiler Manufacturers Association because the industry needed a unified voice and a shared foundation to thrive.
If you have not done so recently, I highly encourage you to explore the historical timeline that ABMA created at BoilerImpact.com. Tracing the milestones of our past is a powerful reminder of this industry’s resilience and our capacity for continuous innovation.
Today, as the oldest continuous trade association in the country, that history is our greatest asset. The technology has evolved remarkably over the last 138 years, but our core purpose has not. The equipment you design, build, and service still serves as the silent engines of modern society. You power the hospitals that care for us, the schools that educate our children, and the manufacturing facilities that build our world. What you do is vital, and therefore, what ABMA does to support you must be equally steadfast.
As we look toward the future, my priority is not to reinvent the wheel, but to ensure it is turning as efficiently and effectively as possible for our members.
Right now, our leadership team is taking a fresh, honest look at how we operate. My primary goal as your Interim President & CEO is to recenter our focus directly on ABMA’s core mission and vision, ensuring they are the driving force behind everything we do.
Over the years, it has been easy for any organization to accumulate new initiatives, but I believe our greatest strength lies in returning to these foundational statements. We are actively working to streamline our efforts so that every program and event we offer directly aligns with providing solutions for your business.
A prime example of this commitment in action is the ABMA Resource Center. We are diligently working to enhance and grow this hub with valuable new resources over time. Whether you are tapping into assets like our Boiler Efficiency Calculator and Free Boiler Maintenance Webinar, or leveraging our technical papers, this Resource Center is designed to put actionable tools directly at your fingertips.
Additionally, we remain highly focused on our ABMA Statistics Program, continuing to deliver the critical market data our members need to make informed business decisions.
By leaning into our organizational values of being anticipatory, impactful, inclusive, innovative, and passionate, and continuing to expand resources like these, we are making sure that ABMA is not just an association you belong to, but a vital partner you rely on to succeed.
As you read through this issue of Today’s Boiler, I hope you feel a sense of pride in the hard work that defines our industry. I am excited about the work ahead of us, and I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure our long, proud history translates into a strong, successful future.
