RACINE, Wis. — Modine is in the midst of expanding the ElectroFin anti-corrosion protection application capabilities at its Jacksonville, Texas, coatings facility. The expansion will add a state-of-the-art, fully automated microchannel electrodeposition coating (e-coat) and topcoat line, effectively doubling the plant’s microchannel coating capacity, a press release from the company said.
“This new ElectroFin line represents another major step in executing our strategy to scale operational capacity alongside our customers’ explosive growth, particularly within the data center market,” said Mike Powell, vice president and general manager of coatings at Modine. “By bringing a fully automated e-coat and topcoat line to Jacksonville, we are enhancing our processing capabilities, reducing lead times, and ensuring that our industry-leading ElectroFin anti-corrosion protection remains readily available to support mission-critical HVAC infrastructure across North America.”
The expansion is driven by unprecedented demand in the HVAC sector, specifically demand for high-efficiency heat exchangers equipped with durable ElectroFin anti-corrosion protection, which has reached record levels due to rapid growth in the data center industry, the press release said.
The new automated ElectroFin e-coat and topcoat line is engineered specifically to process aluminum microchannel coils with enhanced precision, speed, and uniform coverage, providing total surface protection on complex heat exchangers, the press release said. Engineering work is under way, with full project completion expected by November 2027.
Jacksonville’s existing ElectroFin e-coat batch line will remain fully operational to support ongoing demand for traditional round-tube plate-fin (RTPF) coated coils. Establishing dedicated, streamlined workflows for both microchannel and RTPF technologies enables the facility to optimize total plant throughput while maintaining the high quality and flexibility required by its commercial HVAC and OEM partners, the press release said.
“Maintaining our dedicated batch line for RTPF coils while introducing high-volume automation for microchannels gives our Jacksonville operation unparalleled flexibility,” added Powell. “Our Jacksonville team is thrilled to lead this expansion and deliver the superior reliability our HVAC and data center partners depend on.”
