Heat Pump Not Heating in Wesley Chapel

Heat Pump Not Heating in Wesley Chapel

Repair Guide By Tim Hawk, Licensed HVAC Contractor · CAC1816515 • Oct 23, 2026 • 8 min read

Quick Answer

A Wesley Chapel heat pump that will not heat in November is usually the valve, the strips, or a thermostat left on emergency heat.

Start here before you book service

  • ✓ Set the mode to Heat, not Emergency Heat.
  • ✓ Raise the setpoint a few degrees above the room and wait 10 minutes.
  • ✓ The outdoor fan should run on a heat-pump call.
  • ✓ Cool air after that wait is a repair. Silence with the fan on is a different fault.
  • ✓ Do not leave emergency heat on overnight.

No heat in November is a mode check

A heat pump that will not heat in Wesley Chapel is usually still powered. The thermostat says heat. The fan may be moving air. The outdoor unit may be quiet, or it may be running while the rooms stay at the morning temperature. Those are two different faults.

November at the Tampa station is still mostly cooling: a normal high of 78.9°F, a low of 60.7°F, 178 cooling degree days, and 34 heating degree days (Florida Climate Center, 1991-2020). A house in Seven Oaks or Meadow Pointe can ask for heat at breakfast and cooling after lunch. “Heat pump not heating” is about 880 searches a month in the United States, and the count climbed to about 1,300 in November 2025 (Google Ads, United States). “Heating repair Wesley Chapel” is a different search and sits at the ads floor of 10. This page is the symptom. The repair page is heat pump repair.

What the outdoor unit is doing

The outdoor fan never starts. Emergency heat skips the outdoor unit and runs the strips alone. If the strips are open, the indoor fan moves room air and the house never warms. Look at the thermostat before anyone opens a panel. Heat and emergency heat are different settings. Aux on a 60-degree morning can also mean the lockout is set too high, so the strips get the call and the heat pump does not.

The outdoor fan runs and the supply stays cool. That pattern is the reversing valve or a defrost cycle that did not finish. Wait 10 minutes with the mode on Heat and the fan on Auto. Cool air after that wait is the job already described in heat pump blowing cold air. A short wait does not fix a valve that stayed in cool mode all summer.

Leaves on the top grille along Curley Road cut the airflow heat mode needs. Clear the grille and run the test again. The written note should include supply temperature in heat, whether the outdoor fan ran, and whether the strips pulled in. That note is what heating service is for. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call (813) 395-2324.
