Ever since ChatGPT came onto the scene in November 2022, we at The ACHR NEWS have been writing about AI. Artificial intelligence is impacting just about every industry, and HVAC is no exception. Whether it’s automating back-office busywork, following up on calls, monitoring refrigeration cases remotely, or helping techs find troubleshooting info in the field, AI is already shaping how HVAC businesses work.
One of the most common uses of AI I’ve seen is website chatbots. Back when I started here in 2018, it was kind of a novelty. The first time I wrote a story about HVAC contractors using chatbots on their site, I had to look hard to find one. (I found two.) Now, it’s virtually standard practice.

It looks a little like ChatGPT — but better. Instead of pulling its answers from the internet at large — and we all know Dr. Google is not an HVAC expert — our chatbot does what a lot of the large HVAC companies are doing: It pulls from our own resources. So, similar to the way a troubleshooting chatbot would search technical manuals and proprietary content for all that company’s equipment, ours scours all the HVAC articles we’ve ever posted at achrnews.com. And then, because good journalists always cite their sources, we’ll give you a list of links to where that info came from, so you can read further in-depth if you choose.
