MELVILLE, N.Y. — SupplyHouse, an e-commerce distributor of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical supplies, has launched The Day Savers, a national contest that celebrates the trades professionals who showed up when it mattered most.
To mark National Tradesmen Day, Friday, Sept. 18, SupplyHouse will award $10,000 to each of 10 deserving tradespeople and recognize them as part of the 2026 Day Savers Crew.
The idea behind The Day Savers is simple: Trades pros arrive when something is broken and often leave as soon as it’s fixed, once the heat is back on, the water is running, or the day is back on track. Too often, they never get to see what their work made possible or the impact they had on the people they helped. SupplyHouse created The Day Savers to change that by giving customers, families, coworkers, and communities a way to tell those stories and recognize the tradespeople who are there when they need them most.
“Tradesmen are at the heart of everything we do at SupplyHouse, and we see every day how much people rely on their skill, dedication, and willingness to show up when it matters most,” said Kaylin Staub, chief marketing officer at SupplyHouse, in a press release. “The Day Savers contest is about giving people a chance to tell those stories and show tradesmen the impact they make long after the job is done. National Tradesmen Day is an opportunity to say thank you, but our commitment to supporting and celebrating the trades is something we’re proud to carry forward all year long.”
To amplify the campaign, popular country musician Tim McGraw is joining SupplyHouse in encouraging Americans to recognize the tradespeople who have saved the day for them. For McGraw, the campaign has a personal connection: his nephew, Matthew, built a career in the trades and now runs his own company.
“Nothing makes you feel more helpless than having something break down in your house and not being able to fix it, from a busted pipe to the a/c on a hot summer day. We all need someone to come in and save the day,” said McGraw. “One tradesman I’m most proud of is my nephew, Matthew. He has grown through the years from learning a trade to running his own company. He’s not only skilled, but he also treats people right along the way. I know Matthew’s a ‘day saver’ and I’m excited to shine the light on him and other tradesmen like him.”
People can nominate a deserving tradesperson by posting a short video sharing the story of how that person saved their day. Entries can be submitted on social media platforms by tagging the appropriate official SupplyHouse account and using the #TheDaySaversContest hashtag. Nominations will be accepted through Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Following the entry period, public engagement — including likes, comments, and shares — will determine the 25 entries that advance to the SupplyHouse judging panel. The panel will then evaluate finalists based on three criteria: impact on others (40%), exemplification of an always-shows-up spirit (35%), and the strength and authenticity of the story (25%).
SupplyHouse will announce the 10 winners on National Tradesman Day.
