Description: The Pate Sound Shield (PSS) is the first in a new line of rooftop sound reduction and vibration isolation products for commercial and industrial buildings. Designed to integrate with the company’s existing roof curbs, the PSS reduces noise transfer through roof-mounted equipment and improves thermal performance. The system features a high-density, flexible acoustic barrier and a batten insulation layer rated at R-8.0. Performance testing shows sound reductions ranging from 13 to 75 decibels, depending on the application, with sound transmission class (STC) ratings between STC27 and STC58. Each unit is custom engineered to fit the specific rooftop equipment and can be installed either at the factory or in the field. The PSS is installed using acoustical tape, eliminating the need for caulking while maintaining a watertight seal. In addition to sound control, the product addresses rooftop vibration, a common issue that can cause structural wear, equipment damage, or code violations.
