TXVs Just Wrecked Your Bracket

TXVs Just Wrecked Your Bracket

The field has been cut to four, brackets have been busted, and somewhere an HVAC contractor is still demanding a recount.

TXVs put up the biggest numbers of Round 2, absolutely steamrolling low-GWP refrigerants with 75% of the vote. Years of transition headaches, new tools, and mildly panicked code discussions — all to get bounced by a little brass valve.

Inverter-driven compressors also looked like a championship contender, knocking out ductless mini-splits 66% to 34%.

The other two matchups came down to the fourth quarter. ECM motors held off cold-climate heat pumps 57% to 43%, while smart thermostats survived digital diagnostics and Bluetooth tools 56% to 44%.

That leaves our Final Four: smart thermostats, inverter-driven compressors, TXVs, and ECM motors.

Four innovations remain. Two will advance. Cast your Final Four votes and help decide which HVACR innovations make it to the championship.
